Yesterday was a great day for the Williams sailing team! We beat Xavier four races to one!The weather was perfect with winds averaging 10-12 knots SW, with sunnny skies and smart sailing!Team Dan Nickerson and crew Liz Early sailed very well bringing the team into winning combinations in four exciting races!Ben Gibson and crew Connor Hilton also sailed well and new skipper Lise Freitas & crew James McGill struggled abit on the starting line but aided the team to its big win! Good job Williams sailors!

East Lyme High School 2-1

The Williams School 1-2

At East Lyme High School, Niantic Bay Yacht Club.

After a very close loss last Saturday to East Lyme, we finally had an excellent day of sailing at Pettipaug Yacht Club in Essex, racing against Daniel Hand high Madison) and Valley Regional(Essex,Deep River, Chester). We won two out the best of two against both schools. Once again Dan Nickerson was instrumental in pulling out the wins but, Ben Gibson sailed very well, also. And our new skipper,Lise Freitua held on to beat two boats in one race after capsizing in a big gust. Coach Gibbs was very proud of the team effort and big wins! We're now 3 wins and three losses on the season.

This past Saturday, the Williams Sailing team had a good regatta against East Lyme high school at home. Even though we lost the meet, our sailors raced a very tough/competative regatta. We won the first race in moderate winds! In the second race, we were leading at the first mark but eventually lost the race by less than two boats lengths at the finish line. East Lyme squeeked out two more wins by the days end. But, I was happy with the teams performace, effort and improvement! Good sailing Williams,

The Williams sailors had a great win this week at home against Westerly High school on Tuesday! We had near perfect sailing conditions with winds of 8-10 knots and smooth waters. We took the first two races hands down with lots of help from Dan Nickerson, our star sailor. He was very instrumental in bring his teammates to the front for all three winning races. The other two skipper were Ben Gibson and new skipper, Lise Freitas(9) We were happy with our first win this season! Coach Gibbs

So far, we've had two meets, both of which we lost.On 4/10 Tabor was 5-0; and 4/7th was Xavier 4- Williams 1. Its the best three out of five races. We travel up to Newport RI yesterday, but the wind died after one race so it was an incomplete meet (they won first and only race), but the whole thing does not count. Today we race Westerly High school, and I'm hoping we can get a win against them(I've heard they have a young team, we shall see. Cheers, cindy Gibbs
