SENE Championship

Congratulations to SENE champions Marissa Lynch, Ege Izmirli and
Matthew Mooers and the 200 freestyle relay team of Anton Gudz, Peter
Harsh, Adam Collins, Matthew Mooers. Marissa won the 100 backstroke,
Ege the 100 breastroke and Matthew the 50 freestyle at Roger Williams
University. Matthew stripped nearly 2 seconds off his personal best
100 freestyle and placed second with a time of 52.91 which qualifies
him for the upcoming Senior and Age Group Championships. Joining Matt,
Sam Buffum and Peter Harsh stripped multiple seconds off their
freestyle times as well. In one of the most exciting races of the
day, 7th grader Patrick Madaus gave it all that he had in the last 2
laps of his 500 yard freestyle event to catch a competitor and place
5th in the event. Saturday was a very impressive day for this very
young swim team. The team's future is very bright!

Caius Mergy put in a personal best in the 500 freestyle despite a very warm pool.  We also got to see Matthew Mooers swim the breastroke and Adam Collins break out in the fly!  The event of the day had to be the 200 Freestyle Relay.   The team of   Peter Harsh, Jack Haronian, Kara Westbrook and  Kaiser Leuze held on to win the event.  Nice swimming today Williams!

Andrea Goldstein, Marissa Lynch, Lise Freitas,Rivkah Berkman 2nd placeIn all the years of coaching at Williams Coaches Hagen and Stritarsaid they were most proud of their swimmers in this meet. Only fourof the 14 swimmers had ever been in a swim meet. Fighting nerves thegirls dug deep, did their very best and really enjoyed the challengeof their first meet. Leading the way by placing in the individualevents were Sophomore Captain Andrea Goldstein, freshman Marissa Lynchand freshman Emily Cohen. Senior captain Kara Westbrook and
newcomers Lise Freitas and Rivkah Berkman were also key contributors
swimming in two individual events and two relays. The outlook is good
for these young swimmers. They will now join the boys for the
remainder of the season.
