Senior Parent Gift 2010—New Southside Entryway and Courtyard

The strong Senior Parent Gift tradition at The Williams School has once again made a lasting and meaningful impact on our student community.

This year, under the leadership of John Ivimey and a committee of dedicated and generous parents, the Class of 2010 joined together to make a most exciting gift. The committee set their sights on improving the south side entrance of the school with new walkways, a courtyard, plantings, benches and a flagpole.

Support was swift and generous and ultimately we surpassed the goal. With over $75,000 raised collectively from 80% of parents of seniors and some grandparents, these exciting improvements quickly took shape. Thank you to the committee and to all who donated to make this exciting tribute to the Class of 2010 a reality!

Background on Senior Parent Gift Project

The Senior Parent Gift is a wonderful way to honor the graduating and to leave a lasting legacy for future generations.

Under the leadership of this year’s Chair, John Ivimey (parent of Alex ’10 and Christopher ’13)  a group of parents of the Class of 2010 worked through the summer months to get a head start on this year’s gift to the school. In working closely with members of the Board of Trustees Building and Grounds committee and Mark Fader it was determined that the entryway to the Bulkeley Gym and Arts Department be refaced, landscaped and made more welcoming for students, families and guests.

Past Senior Parent Gifts at Williams have included:

2009 Patio—raised $66,764
2008 Renovation of the Fine Arts Facilities—raised $65,372
2007 Bulkeley Gym Renovation—raised $71,611
2006 Math Smart Room—raised $43,284
2005 Library Renovations (with ’04)—raised $68,864
