Richard Glaubman, author of Life is So Good, visited southeastern Connecticut schools on Thursday, stopping by Williams to have lunch with students and faculty. Glaubman's novel tells the story of George Dawson, a black laborman in Texas who learned to read at age 98. The novel was selected as southeatern Connecticut's "One Book/One Region" program and was read by all Williams Upper School students. Glaubman spoke with Williams students about his co-author and book subject as well as the fascinating process of putting this work together.
Mrs. Kim Belair has begun her well-received Upper School Study Skills course again this semester. Go Blues, indeed! The Williams community deserves a huge round of applause for being true to the school and reaching the ambitious Fund for Williams goal even in a tough economy. The Williams School Report of Giving 2007-08 recognizes the more than 750 donors whose generosity helped maintain Williams' margin of excellence.
Now online, the Report of Giving highlights donors according to leadership giving category and by their connection to the school (parents, alumni, and faculty for example). All are proud to be part of such a committed, generous community.

At assembly, Danielle Auerbach ’10 shared photos and stories from her summer trip to Prague in the Czech Republic and St. Petersburg, Russia. She began with fun photos of the beauty of the ancient towns seen through a modern tourist's eye.
The importance of the trip became clear, though, as she explained the connections with her grandfather's experiences in Prague during the Holocaust. The family trip included a celebration of her brother's bar mitzvah in the same synagogue where her grandfather was erroneously included in the roll of names of Holocaust victims inscribed on the interior walls. She relayed that her grandfather had actually managed to escape to Russia. Danielle also visited some historic sites documenting the Nazi persecution of Jews during the Holocaust.

Many of these items are perfect for holiday gift giving.
Ms. Julie-Ann Maheu, Williams athletic trainer, also sells Blues Spirit items at school and may be reached via the school's main number 860-443-5333.
