Blues Newsmaker — Erin Maxwell ’97

Erin Maxwell ’97 and teammate Isabelle Kinsolving won the Women's 470 World Championships held in Australia in January 2008.

As Williams history teacher Bill Furgueson explains, "A 470 is a two-handed sailing dinghy that is sailed in the Olympics. Erin and Isabelle competed for the US Olympic berth but came in second—thus not getting the chance to represent the US in Beijing. However, not giving up, the two went to the Women's 470 World Championships and defeated handily the team that beat them at the Trials and all the other national teams from around the world."

More information is available from The International Sailing Federation.

The Williams community is proud of Erin for excelling academically at Williams and athletically at a world class level.
