New Turf Field

    • Turf Construction Drone Video July 28

"I believe wholeheartedly that athletics are a key component in enriching students' experiences. During my six years at Williams, participating in athletics was an incredible opportunity for learning, camaraderie, and community.  The time I spent in a Williams athletic uniform was just as impactful as the time I spent in a Williams classroom. There is no doubt in my mind that a new state of the art Turf Field will enhance the Williams experience and will contribute greatly to the success of the School moving forward."

Athletic Complex Improvements

The new turf field at the Williams Athletic Complex will replace the current upper athletic field for our Soccer and Lacrosse teams.  It will provide a superior playing surface, improved seating for our dedicated parents and fans, and will create a renewed sence of commitment to the Athletic program at Williams.

The new Turf Field will:
  • provide an optimal playing experience in all weather, allowing our scholar-athletes to practice outside far more often and eliminate most game cancellations due to weather conditions.
  • attract new, mission-appropriate scholar-athletes and improve retention of our current students.
  • create a number of opportunities for community partnerships with local organizations and potentially provide revenue from outside rental groups.
  • provide an overall positive experience for parents, fans, and alumni with terraced seating naturally shaded by trees.
  • enhance training of developmental athletes which can feed into our Varsity Soccer and Lacrosse teams.
  • reinforce Williams' commitment to our Athletic program.

Strengthening Williams Athletic Program

Williams continues to strengthen its Athletic program by continually making strategic decisions to improve facilities, coaching staff, and program offerings.

New League

Williams made the strategic move to join the Housatonic Valley Athletic League (HVAL) in Fall 2019. It provides well-matched teams for our scholar-athletes to compete against, allows for a consistent travel schedule, and creates opportunities to grow and promote our Athletic program in new ways.

New Athletic Director

Williams welcomed Kevin Steuer to lead the Athletic program starting in the 2018-19 Academic Year. Steuer joins Williams from Thayer Academy in Braintree, MA.  He studied Sports Management at Endicott College and received his Master's Degree in Sports Leadership at Northeastern University.  Steuer's philosophy around building the Athletic program at Williams begins with hiring and developing strong coaches with local connections to help recruit new players and build winning teams.
