Local History Field Trip to Visit Original Williams Memorial Institute Building
Mr. Emanuel's sixth grade Local History classes recently visited some New London landmarks that they have been studying.
These landmarks include the Nathan Hale statue and War Memorial in Williams Park (Park originally donated by Mr. and Mrs. William Williams in honor of their son, Thomas W. Williams II) and the original Williams Memorial Institute building, now New London Superior Court, all on Broad Street.
Members of the Clerk's office at the Court were kind enough to lead each group on a tour of the building. Students were able to see where they would have gone to school if we were still in our original location, and they got to stand for a "graduation photo" at the old front door where graduation photos were traditionally taken years ago.
