As stated in our Student Handbook, the following procedures will be implemented:
In the event of an emergency or weather event, the School’s early dismissal, delayed opening, or cancellation will be posted on the School's website. In addition, an alert notification will go out to parents via text and/or email. We will also broadcast on these TV stations: WVIT, Channel 30; WTNH, Channel 8; and WFSB, Channel 3. Students will be sent home by means of their regular car pools or buses. It is possible for students who do not ordinarily ride home on area buses or with other parents or student drivers to do so, but the School must be contacted.
Parents should not expect telephone notification of early dismissal, delayed opening, or cancellation. The School’s outgoing voicemail message will announce the closing or delay, as will the School's website.
While respecting parent concerns regarding children traveling in wintry conditions, Williams asks parents to follow the School’s schedule for emergency dismissal. Sudden, early appearance of parents in the School and the abrupt removal of their children can make the stated procedures difficult to follow. Any early dismissal not approved by the School may result in academic consequences. Orderly evacuation allows those in charge to account for the safe departure of each member of the community.
When school closes early, due to inclement weather or another event, students will be dismissed at 12:20PM and buses depart at 12:30PM. For those students assigned to Lower Lunch, food will be served. Students who drive themselves should sign out and leave immediately. This includes student drivers with siblings. Anyone else leaving with a student driver or carpool will need parent or guardian permission by calling the School at 860.443.5333.
When the School has a delayed opening, our delay is 1 and 1/2 hours. School will start at 9:30AM instead of 8AM. Morning buses will run 1 and 1/2 hours later than normal. Our class day will be slightly condensed, 9th period will end at 3:30PM, and buses home will run on time.
