Wadsworth Atheneum's Monsters and Myths Spanish Field Trip

In Louis Cohen's Spanish III and III Honors classes, students spent a significant portion of the second quarter learning about visual and performing arts.
In addition to learning all of the appropriate vocabulary in Spanish, they also studied a number of classical and modern artists. As a capstone to their quarter, the class visited the Wadsworth Atheneum's Monsters and Myths exhibit on surrealist art during wartime (the 1930s and '40s), including some works by Salvador Dalí and Joan Miró. During the tour, their museum guide alternated speaking in Spanish and English. After the tour, students had a little more time at the museum to explore their permanent collection and had fun viewing various works that personally interested them.
