Finished outside of top 3

The Williams School Sailing Team traveled to the Bristol YC in Rhode Island to compete in one of the five qualifying sites for the O’Day New England Fleet Racing Championship. Much of the day was rainy, cold, and eventually foggy. Despite the less than ideal conditions, 18 total races were held.

Although the Sailing Blues were not one of the top three teams who advanced to the O’Day Championship at the Hotchkiss School on Sunday, out of the 11 schools in attendance, they sailed well and had a great time in the challenging conditions. Leading the way in A Fleet was Mary Madaus ‘21 sailing with Elizabeth Li ‘21 and later with Brenna Henley ‘20. Skippering duties in B Fleet were shared by Samantha Karlson ‘21 and Philip Knowlton ‘19. Crewing for Samantha was Amanda Nessel ‘21 and for Philip was Jordy Plisic ‘19.

Next up, Williams will host Tabor Academy, Hotchkiss, and Choate at the UConn Avery Point campus in a quad team race regatta on Saturday, April 20th.
