Alex Doerwaldt Wins 1st Place in 100 Breaststroke at ISCA National Meet

Alex Doerwaldt '22 placed first in the ISCA (International Swim Coaches Association) National meet in the 100 breaststroke in his age group.
The meet was held in Tampa Bay, Florida, and Alex was racing against the fastest 13/14 year olds in the nation. In order to qualify for the meet the 14 year old swimmers needed AAA USA Swim times in each event. Alex qualified for the 50, 100, 200 and 500 freestyle as well as the 100 and 200 yard breaststroke and the 200 IM.

Alex placed third in the 50 breast (a bonus event) with a time of 27.95. He placed 9th in the 500 free with a time of 4:55. Alex placed 11 in the 200 breast with a 2:16:41 and he won the 100 yard breast with a 59.88. Alex is one second shy of the USA Swim Future’s competition this summer in Ohio.

Alex's brother, Hartmut '21, travels with Alex, tapes Alex’s races and gives him vital feedback throughout the meet. Together, they make quite a team.
