Holiday Angels Program Wraps Up Some Joy for Local Families in Need
The Holiday Angels program had another successful year!
For this project, advisor groups are assigned an individual in the greater New London area in need of help at the holidays. The goal is to make Christmas magical for these individuals by purchasing gifts on their wish lists. The Child and Family Agency of New London selects the families and send the Service Committee their information. On December 5th, advisor groups wrapped the gifts, which were then brought to the Child and Family Agency for delivery on Christmas eve.
"Although this is a busy time for all, the entire school came together on Tuesday to make Holiday Angels possible," Tekla Zweir shared. "We sponsored 24 individuals in need in the broader community, and each advisor group planned shopping lists, purchased gifts, and wrapped all the presents. We hosted a gift wrapping party during advisor meetings, then organized the gifts into larger bags by family, and finally loaded the gifts on to a truck for delivery to the Child and Family Agency in New London. As faculty advisor to the Service Committee, I was impressed by how seamlessly students and faculty took on all aspects of this project. Our collective efforts truly make the holidays magical for local families."
